Imphal, December 20 2019:
Pointing out that the date of Ningol Chakkouba for next year in the State Government 2020 Holiday List, is not the same as the date of Kangleipak Calendar Board, it has questioned the data source on which the holiday list is based, apart from demanding the date to be revised at the earliest while there is still time.
Speaking to media persons at the office of South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO) at Moirang Leirak Machin yesterday, Kangleipak Calendar Board general secretary Soraisam Sanjit said that the date of next year's Ningol Chakkouba in the State Government's 2020 calendar/holiday list is not the same as that of the board.
He explained that the board bases its calendar as per the longitude and latitude data of Kangla and asked where the State Government is getting its data from.
Asking how the Ningol Chakkouba is mentioned as falling on November 17 next year in the Government calendar, Soraisam Sanjit expressed great disappointment at such errors on part of the authorities concerned as the society of Manipur heavily relies on time and opportune moments for religious reasons.
Demanding the Government to make the necessary corrections while there is still time, he lamented that such attitude of publishing a wrong date despite numerous appeals in the past to the IPR Minister, Chief Minister and the DIPR Director, is highly condemnable.
