Governor VK Duggal has conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the happy and auspicious occasion of Yaoshang, 2014 .
In his message, the Governor said, ''Yaoshang, known as Holi elsewhere is celebrated at the onset of spring.
This festival of colours exemplifies the rejuvenation of the spirit of life.
The festival marked by gaiety, enthusiasm and spiritualism compels us to forget our differences and strengthen the bond of unity.
From purely being a festival, we have seen changes in the celebration with sports becoming an important item in various areas of the State'' .
Chief Minister O Ibobi also extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the State on the auspicious and joyous occasion of 'Yaoshang' festival.
A message from the CM said, ''Yaoshang, the festival of colours is one of the biggest festivals of Manipur when everybody old and young enjoy with gaiety and enthusiasm.
Yaoshang is a unique festival that brings people closer in a spirit of brotherhood and social harmony amongst the different communities in our State'' .
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Lokeshwar Singh has also greeted the people especially the Hindu community on the joyous occasion of Yaoshang and prayed for peaceful co-existence with the celebration of the festival.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is also the president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee in a message greeted the people of the State mainly the Hindu brethren on the occasion of Yaoshang and wished for peace, unity and violence-free State with the coming of the festival.
On the other hand, Major General Rajeev Chopra, IGAR (South) and all ranks of Assam Rifles extended their warm greetings and sincere goodwill to the people of the State on the auapicious occasion of Yaoshang (Holi) and prayed that the festival may herald an era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region and enhance the spirit of unity, cohesivesness and brotherhood amongst the people of all the communities of the State.
