AMAMECON 2014 begins at RIMS

The 30th edition of the All Manipur Medical Conference (AMAMECON) organized by the Manipur State Branch of Indian Medical Association was held at the Hall of the Association today.
In the inaugural function of the Conference, Dr Dhabali, President of the organizing association presided over the occasion.
Dr Ch Arunkumar, Director of RIMS attended the function as Chief Guest, while Director of Health Services and State Health Society (NHM), Dr Okram Ibomcha along with Dr M Shyamo who is the Director of JNIMS attended the function as Guests of Honor.
A souvenir of AMAMECON 2014 was also released by the Chief Guest who expressed the need of a mutual understanding between patients and doctors.
Assuring that provision of basic health care should be made available in the Primary Health Centers and Community Health Centers of the state, he suggested that medical practitioners should perform their duties sincerely in this community level initiative instead of running their own private clinic.
Further, Dr Okram Ibomcha in his speech disclosed the fact that although Manipur stands second among the lowest infant mortality rate in the country, there is still a requirement of more doctors in the State comparing to its population.
He also opined that medical research and advancement in the areas of diseases like HIV/AIDS, vector borne diseases and TB are still needed to be taken care off in the State.
Lastly, Dr Dhabali while speaking on the occasion affirmed that apart from different academic activities; the conference will also hold a discussion on topics like welfare of patients and doctors along with a dissection of vector borne diseases.
