Govt deplores use of students ; All Educational Institutes closed down in Imphal

The Manipur Government has deeply regretted the unwarranted use of the students as fronts in the Inner Line Permit agitations.
In an order issued by L Nandakumar, Deputy Secretary (Education) it was disclosed that one student had succumbed to injuries on Wednesday and some others wounded in the police crackdown.
The government is appealing to the organisations spearheading the ILP agitations to immediately desist from such acts.
The government has put certain restrictions on the movement and assembly of people.
This step was taken up to ensure that the situation does not get aggravated.
Considering the safety and security of the students the government decided to temporarily close down all educational institutes including all higher secondary schools, high schools, junior and primary schools located in greater Imphal area till further orders.
In an identical order issued by Y Dimbajit, Deputy Secretary (Higher and Technical Education) Manipur the government is blaming the organisations for using the students.
The government deeply mourns and regrets the death of a student during a tussle on Wednesday.
Besides the government has taken note of the restrictions imposed on the people.
After taking the serious nature of the situation the government has decided to temporarily close down all higher and technical institutes including all colleges, polytechnics located in Greater Imphal with immediate effect.
