Zeliangrong bodies petition Prime Minister

A JOINT emergency meeting of all frontal organizations of Zeliangrong was held at Shekinuh Inn Tamenglong district HQs and asked the Prime Minister not to spare an inch of Zeliangrong land to the proposed creation of Jiribam district.
The Zeliangrong civil bodies would oppose tooth and nail if the state government creates the sub-divisional into a full fledged district by including Zeliangrong areas, the memo said.
The Zeliangrong people has no objection to conversion of Jiribam into a full- fledged district but not an inch of Zeliangrong land will be conceded.
In this regard the civil bodies urged the concerned authorities to officially demarcate the boundary between Jiribam sub-division and Tamenglong district.
The memorandum was signed by Agui Kamei, Chairman District Concern Development Association, DCDA Tamenglong district, GN.
Rampui, Info Secretary Zelaingrong Baudi Tousem, Pousamying, Secy DCDA Tousem, Kairithong, Convener Zeliangrong Baudi Tamei, Japhet, Convener DCDA Tousem and Shem Convener DCDA Tamei zone.
In the emergency meeting the Zeliangrong organization discussed the Jiribam district demand issue, and adopted four strong resolutions.
The Zeliangrong people will not accept taking and giving of one's property, either land, material or valuable commodity and therefore the Zeliangrong people would not tolerate the decision of annexation of the forefather's land to non-Nagas or to the Jiribam district.
The Zeliangrong bodies also warned that unconditional agitations would be taken up if the state government failed to comply to the memorandum submitted to Chief Minister of Manipur, O Ibobi Singh, the resolution stated.
The meeting resolved to appeal to the government of Manipur to complete the Tamenglong-Halflong road within the stipulated time and also construct a suspension bridge over Maguiki river at Tamei Sub-Division.
The DRDA Tamenglong is a central agency for developing the hills of Manipur and DCDA would be look into the matter for the welfare of the people stated another resolution.
