Joining the rest of the country, World Water Day under the theme "Valuing Water" was celebrated today at the Conference Hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel.
Around 43 farmers and 11 students participated in the event.
A drawing competition was also organised for the students.
In his keynote address, Dr K Sonamani Singh, ACTO (SWCE), KVK, Chandel deliberated on the significance of World Water Day.
Dr A Ameeta Devi, Head, KVK Chandel in her presidential speech strongly stressed the need for water harvesting in all the houses and office buildings.
Later, certificates and prizes of the drawing competition were distributed to the students.
CHURACHANDPUR
The Nationwide Campaign on "Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch The Water" was launched in Churachandpur district under the Churachandpur District Administration today at DTC Hall, Tuibong.
Thangboi Gangte, MCS, ADC Churachandpur administered 'Water Pledge' to the gatherings.
Addressing the programme, Pawan Yadav, IAS, DC Churachandpur stated that the next hundred days are crucial which involves development of rain harvesting and creation of various ponds or water tanks in conserving rain water.
John Thanglenmang Singson, EE PHED, Hasby Haokip, MPS, Additional, SP IUCAW and DLOs also attended the programme.
SENAPATI
The District Administration today joined the campaign of Jal Shakti Abhiyan: "Catch the Rain" with the rest of the country which was launched by the Prime Minister of India at the Conference Hall, DC Office.
Addressing the programme, Th Kirankumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati said the sensitization on water conservation will begin at the grassroots level through the people's participation.
He therefore appealed to the members to take active participation in rainwater harvesting.
Besides, the campaign was carried out in all Sub-Divisional Blocks and various Anganwadi Centres in a befitting manner.
The programme was attended by DLO's, several village authorities and leaders.
Likewise, the NSS of Don Bosco Higher secondary under the guidance of the Programme Officers, Sr Sonal Devendrabhai Vaghela CCV and Gaanpatrei Kamei celebrated the International Forestry Day cum World Water Day today.
The programme was attended by Bosco Kashung T, the President of Maram Student Union as the Chief Guest of the day.
He planted a sapling and encouraged the students to protect the forest and environment.
Fr NJ Cyriac, the rector felicitated the dignitaries while Fr Thomas Ekka and Fr Joseph saw to the arrangement of the event.
Later, prizes for the completions conducted during the water conservation week were also distributed.
After the assembly, the members of Eco-Club and NSS planted tree saplings to invigorate the young minds towards the importance of "Forest restoration: a path to recovery and wellbeing" .
TAMENGLONG
World water day was also observed at Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat, Tamenglong District Headquarters to underline the significance of fresh water in our lives.
As a part of the programme, District Water Sanitation Committee (DWSC), Chairman and Secretaries of various villages of Tamenglong watched the launching of the 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain' campaign in a video conference event by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Later, under the NLCPR project, enrolment of beneficiaries was also conducted to provide water within the district headquarters.
The programme was jointly organised by District Administration Tamenglong, District Water Sanitation Committee (DWSC), and PHED Tamenglong division.
THOUBAL
District Administration Thoubal and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Thoubal jointly organised the 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch The Rain Campaign' at the Counting Hall in DC Complex Thoubal, today.
The programme was attended by Thoubal Zilla Parishad, Adhyaskha, Hasina Begum; Deputy commissioner Thoubal, N Bandana Devi, IAS; KVK Thoubal, Head, senior scientist, Dr Zeshmarani Sarangthem and ADM Thoubal, Lokeshwar Brahmacharimayum as presidium members.
PHED Thoubal, EE, N Livingstone; EE, Mangkhongthang Haokip; DFO Thoubal, Lokendro Singh and Shija Academic of Health Sciences, assistant professor, Dr S Goutam attended the programme as resource persons.
