Imphal, March 22 2021:
As a part of Central Government's initiative of 'Bharat KaAmrutMahotsav', 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector AR/ IGAR(E) celebrated 'Prayavaran Ka Amrut' mahotsav under the theme "Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being" and carried out large scale afforestation drive in which varieties of sapplings were planted at battalion headquarters location and COBs Gelnel, Dikuiram, Azuiram and COB Akhui contributing towards the beautiful flora and fauna of the area.
In continuation with the afforestation drive where 44 Assam Rifles has achieved a landmark by planting one lakh saplings of different varieties last year, unit carries on its strive to protect the biodiversity of the area.
Celebration of World Forestry Day was aimed to raise awareness among local populace regarding conservation of eco system and sustainable management of all types of forests for the benefit of current and future generations.
