Tamenglong remembers Jadonang

Haipou Jadonang, the Zeliangrong Naga freedom fighter was widely remembered in Tamenglong district on his 82nd Death Anniversary along with organising various programmes.
One of the colourful and befitting programmes was held at Nungba bazaar with Prof.Gangmumei, Ex- Minister of Manipur; Samson Riamei, Ex- President of UNC and Vice President of Naga Hoho and Raitu Chawang, President of Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) as chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively.
On the occasion, Jadonang Parade was displayed by members of youth club from Puiluan (Kambiron), the native village of Haipou Jadonang and it was followed by observance of two minutes silence as mark of respect to the departed soul of the martyr.
Ho- hoing, traditional drum beating and tradition dance were other highlights of the function.
Apart from dance troupe from Assam, renowned singers Jiangam Kamei, Ajei, Julia and Susana also entertained the gathering.
National highway was blocked for nearly three hours on account of the observance function.
Speaking as the occasion, Prof.Gangmumei narrated the brief history of Haipou Jadonang Malangmei.
At the district headquarter, Haipou Jadonang Death Anniversary Committee organised the 82 death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang at Indoor Stadium along with paying rich floral tributes.
Amu Kamei, President of Zeliangrong Union; Ramkung Pamei, Editor of The Cham and DM Nganthonang graced the occasion as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
An essay writing competition and traditional dance competition were also held to mark the occasion.
