New DGP underscores police role : Lays stress on fast investigation

While underscoring the immense responsibility of police in maintaining public tranquillity, newly appointed DGP MK Das has stated that police can win back people's faith and confidence if the process of investigation can be accelerated.
Interacting with The Sangai Express at his office today, MK Das confided that one area which he would pay maximum thrust as the head of State police is the investigation part.
By accelerating the pace of investigation, police can reclaim faith and confidence of the public.
He also pledged to put in maximum efforts to make Manipur Police a people friendly force.
"If any police personnel takes the law into his hands, I would not remain silent but take up befitting actions", MK Das stated.
Police should respect all tax-payers and they must understand that they are not the boss.
Stating that Manipur Police would welcome all constructive suggestions, the new DGP appealed to the public to come forward and make suggestions for improvement of Manipur Police in their functioning and structure.
The uproar seen at Moreh following the arrest of one Chonjakai Kipgen by commandos has been brought under control and IG (L/O-II) T Pachau is currently stationed at the border town, informed the DGP.
