Train service to start from silchar every monday and thursday at 7 am: NF railway

Chief minister N Biren Singh has said that North-East India is heading towards development under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking during the flagging off function of reintroduction of Jiribam-Silchar passenger train service via video conferencing at the Chief Minister's Secretariat on Sunday, Biren expressed elation that the central government is giving special focus on improving connectivity in the Northeast and trying to link all the state capitals by rail.
He stated the state government is looking forward to completing the Jiribam-Khongsang railway line by December 2021.The chief minister congratulated the officials and staff of Railways for their sincerity and hard work towards completion of the Jiribam-Imphal Railway Project.
He also assured that all the disputes related to land compensation, etc., would be resolved soon as he has convened a review meeting with administrative secretaries, DCs concerned and officials.
Union minister for state of railways Rao-saheb Patil Danve, who was also present on the occasion, said "it is a proud moment for all of us in reintroducing Jiribam-Silchar passenger train service at this juncture" .
He maintained that the main purpose of his visit to the state is to inspect the status of the ongoing Jiribam-Imphal Railway Project.
The Union minister assured that the railway project would be completed soon and advised officials of Railways to expedite and complete the work before the deadline.
Raosaheb Patil recalled that it was the aspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to connect all the state capitals of Northeast India by rail.
He also praised chief minister Biren for his commitment to extend all possible support and cooperation to the Railways for early completion of the project.
Minister for transport Vungzagin Valte, MP (Rajya Sabha) Leishemba Sanjaoba, additional chief secretary P Vaiphei, administrative secretaries, top officials of Northeast Frontier Railway were also present during the function.
After the flagging off function, Railways officials made a detailed PowerPoint presentation about the current situation and progress of the rail work in the state.
Meanwhile, a release by NF Railway chief public relations officer Guneet Kaur informed that Train No 05659 will start from Silchar every Monday and Thursday at 7 am and will reach Jiribam at 8:55 am.
During return journey Train No.05660 will start from Jiribam at 1:30 pm to reach Silchar at 3:30 pm.
The train timings and days of run have been planned to facilitate the passengers of Imphal to board long distance trains from Silchar.
The train will have eight General class compartments and two luggage-cum-guard vans.
The train will stop at seven stations during its journey.
The train service on this route was suspended with effect from June 7, 2019 due to low patronage and Covid-19 pandemic, it added.
NF Railway stated that a 100 feet tall monumental flag was installed recently at the Jiribam Railway station.
This has not only improved the aesthetics of the station but has also imparted a sense of nationalism and patriotism among the passengers of Indian Railways.
It may be mentioned that the Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction) organisation is executing the Jiribam - Imphal New BG railway line projects (110.625 km) at an anticipated cost of Rs 12,264.15 crore.
Eight new station buildings, 11 major bridges, 134 minor bridges, four road over bridges, 12 road under bridges and more than 71,066 metre of tunnelling are being constructed.
The target date for completion of the project is December 2023, it further said.
