Monthly village chiefs meeting held

Imphal, February 21 2021:
Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted a monthly village chiefs meeting at Moreh yesterday.
Seven village chiefs and Secretaries of all the nearby villages attended the meeting and issues which were discussed included the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive and illegal cross border smuggling from across Indo-Myanmar Border, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
The security situation along the border was also deliberated upon and villagers were advised to prevent illegal movement of foreign nationals into India.
The importance of maintaining peace and harmony in the area was also discussed and the village chiefs/Secretary displayed their interest in maintaining close liaison with Assam Rifles and assured their wholehearted support in the overall aim and larger interest to control cross border illegal trade, added the statement.
Village Chiefs were also requested to extend full support for the upcoming COVID-19 vaccination program in the town and they were also told to give wide publicity in their respective villages, also added the statement.
The village chiefs and Secretaries assured their whole hearted cooperation with Assam Rifles, added the statement.
