AR provides assistance to Mission Blind School

Chandel, February 21 2021:
With its initiative to ameliorate the hardships of the children, Chandel Battalion of HQ 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) provided material assistance to the Mission Blind School on February 19 .
The unit had adopted the school with 45 visually impaired children last year and has been continuously rendering assistance to the students, said a statement of PRO IGAR (S).
During the COVID-19 lockdowri, assistance in terms of ration, masks, gloves and sanitizer as well as daily essential items were provided to the children.
Assam Rifles presented the school with items worth Rs 1.6 lakh today as a part of the civic action project executed by Chandel Battalion, it added.
The items included audiovisual aids, two computers specially fabricated for visually impaired students, Braille books, music system and white canes.
It may be mentioned that the Chandel Battalion had approached the National Institute of Visually Handicapped, Dehradun for the procurement of the items specifically fabricated for visually impaired children, it added.
The unit also donated cooking utensils, plates and water pumps to the school.
80 children, parents, teachers and troops of Assam Rifles attended the event, it added.
The Principal, teachers and children of Mission Blind School expressed their gratitude to the Assam Rifles for providing necessary assistance which will help them in living a better life.
