Imphal, November 16 2014 :
At a time when collective demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System is on to monitor the rampant influx of outsiders into the State, a property land at Nagamapal Singjubung, Imphal West has been found registered in the name of a non-local.
The revelation came to light during a survey conducted by Joint Committee on Non-Manipuri Survey Work IMC Ward no 4 Uripok A/C under the aegis of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) to verify non-locals staying in the area, at the office of Singjubung Youth Organization today.
Speaking to media persons, Tomba Chanambam, convener of JCILPS said that similar survey was conducted at Uripok Gopalaji during which several non-locals without proper identification documents were found while confiding that the matter of non-locals not possessing valid identification documents and buying property land would be dealt in accordance with resolutions to be adopted by the committee in this regard.

He reiterated that the demand for enforcement of ILPS is legitimate considering the unchecked mass influx of outsiders into the State which has posed a serious threat to its indigenous people.
Maintaining that the ongoing survey in Uripok is supported by five clubs of the Constituency, he appealed to the people to extend full support to the survey which is being conducted to verify non-locals and their motives of staying in the area.
On the other hand, Joint Committee on Non-Manipuri Work Hatta Golapati in collaboration with Hatta Golapati Development Council also conducted a survey at Hatta Golapati Phaiza High School during which around 300 non-locals staying in the area were verified.
Haji Arafat Ali, convener of Joint Committee on Non-Manipuri Survey Work Hatta Golapati told media persons that the survey was conducted as part of measures to save indigenous people of the State from going into the hands of outsiders.
The survey should not be seen as a hostile act to discriminate non-locals.
It is just a pre-emptive step to safeguard indigenous people of the State, he added.
