Arrange more vaccination centres in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C, says RK Anand

In view of the surge in positive cases and increasing rate of fatality due to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in the State, former MLA and State Executive member of BJP Manipur Pradesh, RK Anand in co-ordination with Covid Task Force Meitram organised a Covid testing programme at the community hall of Meitram Lai Haraopham Shanglen today.
The testing programme was carried out mainly for locals of Meitram, Lairenjam, Malom, Kodompokpi and Kodompokpi Lamkhai under Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency with ah aim to protect them from COVID-19 since many residents of the mentioned areas tested positive in the past few days.
Around 300 persons were tested today and some turned out to be Covid positive.
Speaking on the occa sion, RK Anand said that the testing was done on an urgent basis since many locals of the area tested positive for COVID-19 and thanked the officials of Health Department, CMO Imphal West and DC of Imphal West for approving to conduct the Covid testing programme.
He continued that such Covid testing programme has been conducted thrice in Malom and once in Lairenjam Makha Laibung.
He stressed on the need for mass Covid testing which is one of the important means to curb the farther spread of the virus and appealed to all the residents of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C to undergo Covid test and depending on the result, one can take the necessary precautionary measures accordingly to fight against COVID-19.Further he lauded the selfless contributions Of medical staff, frontline workers and local club volunteers amid this difficult phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Coming to the ongoing vaccination drive, he appealed to the Government to identify other centres to get the vaccination apart from PHC Mekola which is the lone centre of the constituency as of now.
He maintained that only 150 persons are vaccinated per day at PHC Mekola for both the first and second dose therefore he urged the authorities concerned to arrange for other vaccination centres in health centres at Mongsangei or Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai or in the recently inaugurated building of Urban Health Centre at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai taking into consideration the problems faced by the residents of the constituency while trying to get the vaccine.
Considering the current situation of the ongoing pandemic, he also requested the authorities concerned to review the transfer order of a doctor from Mongsangei Health Centre.
Later RK Anand distributed edible items to the households of containment zone at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai, Lairenjam Sabal and Kongjeng Leikai today.
