Imphal, July 06 2014:
Angry members of the joint action committee (JAC) seeking justice in the murder case of Manipur Police Sub-Inspector Mayengbam Krishnadas today squatted in front of the residential gate of Social Welfare minister AK Mirabai, demanding prompt action against the culprits.
Krishnadas (50), a resident of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi Ningthoujam Leikai in Imphal West, was found murdered near Sangaiprou Kabui village here on June 21 last.
Since then, the JAC has been demanding justice and launching various agitations.
On Sunday, the members of the JAC suddenly appeared near the residence of AK Mirabai at Taobungkhok in Imphal West and demonstrated in front of the gate.
However, the Minister was not at home at the time of the protest.
The protestors said they cannot tolerate any further delay by the Government in arresting the culprits behind the murder of Krishnadas.
At around 2 pm, Mirabai's house guards tore the placards held by the protestors and dispersed them from the site.
One of the members of the JAC told Hueiyen Lanpao that agitation over the killing of Krsihnadas will continue until and unless the culprits are arrested and punished by the Government.
One sharp knife and a pair of sandals were recovered from the spot where the body of the SI was found.
The police are now trying to find the clue with the help of the recovered items that could lead to the arrest of the real culprits.
