Imphal, May 03 2012:
Chief Minister O Ibobi and Home Minister Gaikhangam would be leaving for New Delhi tomorrow to attend the meeting and discuss issue related to establishment of the proposed National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) .
The meeting would be chaired by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
The meeting has been convened by the Union Home Minister taking into account of the differences which have crept up among the Chief Ministers of the states ruled by the Congress and those ruled by other political parties over the proposal of setting up NCTC.
The BJP, BJD, AIADMK and Trinamool Congress have opposed to setting up NCTC as it would hinder the federal structure of the country.
However, the Congress is of the opinion that the Centre has taken up the step to establish NCTC to counter internal as well as external threats being faced by the country and there would not be any question of interfering in the state issues by the Centre.
The issue of NCTC has also become a hot topic for discussion in the ongoing Parliamentary session.
