Imphal, April 23 2012:
Chandel Naga people's organization (CNPO), Naga Women Union Chandel (NWUC) and Naga Students Union Chandel (NSUC) have expressed serious concern over the latest stand-off between the Assam Rifles and the NSCN (IM) at Hebron and other Naga areas.
In a statement issued by Information and Publicity Secretary of CNPO SK Samson said that the latest impasse has not only created fear psychosis among the general public but also fear that the hard earned peace political dialogue between the two parties might go in vain.
The three bodies appealed to both the Assam Rifles and the NSCN (IM) to exercise maximum restrain and let the matter be resolved through negotiations.
Any sort of violence or confrontation has no place in a civilized society but rather creates animosity and misunderstanding which the general public never desire.
The present standoff should be immediately resolved through the intervention of GOI (Home Ministry) as the peace talk is between the two entities-GOl and NSCN (IM) at the highest level.
It has nothing to do with Assam Rifles and NSCN (IM) cadres.
The latest impasse has created a sense of insecurity and fear in Chandel district too.
The people of Chandel desire a peaceful settlement at the earliest, the statement added.
