ZUF observes Jadonang death anniversary

Like elsewhere in the State, the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) too observed the 81st death anniversary of freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang Malangmei at their council headquarters on August 29 located in a remote corner of Tamenglong district.
Offering of floral tributes, guard of honour and gun salute by ZUF cadres were the main features of the commemorative function.
The function was graced by ZUF chairman Kamson and it was attended by many top functionaries of the outfit including its Zeliangrong Tiger Force (ZTF) commander and ZUF army chief Jenchui Kamei and joint secretary A Ramroy who is currently secretary-in-charge.
Chairman Kamson opened the function by hoisting the party's flag which was followed by offering of floral tributes to the photograph of Jadonang.
Addressing the function, the ZUF chairman retold the life of chairman retold the life of Haipou Jadonang and his exploits.

Jadonang was born at Kambiron (Puilan) village of Tamenglong district in 1905. He led a strong resistance movement against the then oppressive British regime.
Bold and courageous, Jadonang fought the colonial regime and dedicated his own life for the cause of the mass, Kamson said.
The Chairman further asserted that the present generation must follow the path of Haipou Jadonang.
ZUF cadres added more solemnity to the death anniversary function by presenting songs which eulogised the life of Jadonang and the Zeliangrong people.
Later speaking to media persons, ZUF army chief Jenchui Kamei said that some people might see ZUF as a gang or a group which was set up solely to oppose the NSCN-IM.
But this a wrong notion.
The ZUF is not against the Government of India or the Government of Manipur or any other group.
The fundamental objectives of ZUF are to protect the Zeliangrong people, their territory, their resources and their identity, Jenchui Kamei clarified.

The death anniversary of Jadonang was also observed at Gaidimjang village under Khoupum sub-division yesterday.
The function was graced by Namkaolong village chairman Janglungpou Pamei and village chief Gaibirei as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
The death anniversary function was organised by the Haipou Jadonang Malangmei Memorial Committee.
One important programme of the function was the final match of the Haipou Jadonang Malangmei Memorial Volleyball Trophy.
The tournament which began since August 27 was participated by 24 teams and the final match was played between Gaidimjang Part II-A and Satudai Youth Club-A.
