Govt to crack down on black marketers, two oil pumps put on 24x7 service

In the wake of 1000-hour bandh called in Karbi Anglong region of Assam along the National Highway No.2, the State Government has taken up necessary measures to ensure continued availability of essential commodities, especially petroleum oil to the public.
In this regard, CAF&PD Minister Moirangthem Okendro convened a meeting of IOC officials and owners of oil pumps at his office chamber here today.
According to an order of Deputy Secretary of CAF&PD Ranjan Yumnam, hoarding and black marketing of petroleum products are punishable under the Essential Commodities Act, 1980 and further directed the District Magistrates and law enforcement agencies to crack down on black marketers and hoarders.
Further, Krishnapremi Oil City and PCTC oil pumps have been ordered to remain opened 24X7 for providing necessary petroleum oil to the public.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, CAF&PD Minister M Okendro said that there is enough stock of petroleum oil for the State in the IOC depot.
People need not to panic about any shortage in the coming days.
The State Government would ensure transportation of all essential commodities to the State by providing necessary security escorts.
Minister Okendro further said that the State Government has also urged the Central Government to provide all necessary assistances in the transportation of essential goods to the State during the 1000-hour bandh in Karbi Anglong region of Assam.
He also appealed to the public to avoid panic buying of petrol and diesel, and further advised the IOC officials to work sincerely to ensure continued availability of petroleum oil to the public.
