Cabinet okays posting policy for teachers

The State Cabinet has today approved the Tenure Transfer and Posting Policy of Teaching Faculty and Other Officers under the Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Manipur' .
The Cabinet gave its nod to the new transfer policy in a Cabinet meeting held at 3 pm today with Chief Minister Okram Ibobi in the chair.
After the meeting, State Government spokesperson and CAF & PD Minister M Okendro said that under this new policy, Assistant Professors of Government colleges would be permanently posted at their parent college, where he/she gets regularisation or first posting, till their retirement.
However, they can also be deputed to Higher and Technical Education Department or any other Government institution for some time, the Minister added.
Once the new policy is enforced, Government college faculties would be posted permanently at their parent college till their retirement, the Minister said and added that the existing faculties would be however offered a chance to select their parent college.
A special committee would take up necessary steps to translate the choice of the teachers into action.
Once the options are finalised, they would be permanently deputed to their chosen college, M Okendro said.
Despite this transfer policy, some efficient teachers might be brought to Higher and Technical Education Department as Additional Director, Joint Director and OSD on rotational basis.
Saying that the tenure for deputation of teachers to the Department would be three years, Okendro said that they would be allowed to extend their service for two more years if they wish.
However, the age of the teacher must not exceed 60 years as the post is non-teaching in nature,
he added.
The Minister further said that the new transfer policy would be effective in all the Government Polytechnics and Engineering Colleges as well.
