Dr Saumitra inspects development works

Imphal, May 25 2012:
Member of Planning Commission of India, Dr Saumitra Chaudhuri, who arrived here on a two-day visit to the state, has inspected various development programmes being taken up in the state.
Saumitra Chaudhuri landed at Imphal this morning and he would be leaving tomorrow after a joint meeting with top officials of various government departments.
During his stay here, Saumitra has been declared as a State Guest, according to an order issued by the Under Secretary, General Administrative Department
(Welfare Section) .
After his arrival, Saumitra Chaudhuri went along with the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur and other government officials to inspect the Capitol Project at Chingmeiroing, High Court Building Complex at Mantripukhri, the three Ima Keithels and the Inter State Bus Terminus at Khuman Lampak.
The team also visited Moreh and inspected the condition of NH 2 and trade activities at the border town.
The site where the proposed Integrated Check Post is to be constructed was also inspected by the team.
They also visited the Namphalong market before returning back.
During their short stay at Moreh, the team met the ADC, Moreh and discussed the present condition of Moreh along with the government staffs posted there.
According to an official source, Dr Saumitra Chaudhuri would hold a joint meeting with the top officials of different government departments of the state and discuss various projects and schemes taken up in the state tomorrow before leaving Imphal.
In connection with his inspections, Dr Saumitra would be submitting a report to the Planning Commission.
Meanwhile, another source informed that a team led by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratan left for Moreh today.
