Following the decision arrived after a meeting of the TRPC held on July 1, an exhaustive ground work has been contemplated in consultation with the DSP (Traffic), Imphal West to formulate various mechanisms to reduce traffic jams and snarls in front of Johnstone Higher Secondary School, along the eastern road side of Kanglapat opposite M Sector and Indira Park which have been turned into parking lots for authorickshaws and Tata Magics.
After minute discussion, it was decided that traffic regulations will be put in place after a trial is conducted for a period of one week from August 19, said an official notification from Directorate of Transport.
As detailed, all the auto-rickshaws parked in front of Johnstone Higher Secondary School will be shifted to the Pologround Maning Parking and Eastern road side of MPP road.
For entry and exit routes, auto-rickshaw with passengers shall be allowed to enter via M-Sector by-lane/Fire Brigade road and will drop passengers/may pick up passengers and depart via MPP road/BT Road, otherwise shall be allowed idle parking along the western roadside of NH-39 (in front of Sulabh Toilet complex/North AOC).
One way traffic norms will also be enforced during the one week trial, said the notification and elaborated that the by lane located in between the southern Compound Wall of Polo Ground and Diamond Tailor, traffic shall be allowed from south towards north only; the second by lane located in between Hotel Kristina and Leima Shopping complex, traffic shall be allowed from north towards south only.
For Tata Magics, all those authorised to park along the eastern road side of Kanglapat opposite M Sector and Indira Park shall be shifted to the southern road side of Museum road.
Tata Magics with passengers shall be allowed to enter via-M Sector by lane and will drop passengers/ pick up passengers and depart via BT Road other wise shall be allowed idle parking along the southern road side (in front of Kekrupat).
