Imphal, October 06 2018:
A family of Charoichagothong Part I has been unable to live properly in the locality after they were harassed and threatened to leave the village by some people before October 5 (yesterday) .
As the said incident bears resemblance to mob violence, a team of media persons visited the locality to assess the situation yesterday.
The media persons found that the said house belonging to the family had been locked tight and almost all the beds and household items etc.
were all missing.
Speaking to the media persons, the village authority secretary Paul Gonmei said that the house belonged to the family of one Gonbilung Gonmei and on October 3, Gonbilung's son, Lungjangam Gonmei, created a ruckus at the home of one Dithailung Gangmei which was situated a little distance away from the house.
Following the incident, Gonbilung Gonmei went to Dithailung Gangmei house and apologised and it was found that Dithailung had even lodged a complaint at Noney PS regarding the incident.
Paul Gonmei continued that after the issue persisted, the village Thoubei stepped in and the matter was settled, in the presence of police.
However, later on Dithailung allegedly came with some people and demanded Gonbilung's family to leave the village by October 5 or face the consequences, Paul claimed.
Pointing out that the family members fled away in fear after receiving such threats, the village authority appealed to the authority concerned and the police to intervene into the matter at the earliest.
