State students shine in Science Olympiad 2013-14

Seven Manipuri students from Imphal made the State proud by garnering various ranks in the Science Olympiad held during the International Award ceremony to felicitate International winning students, teachers and principals of Olympiad exams for the Academic year 2013-14 organised by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) in Delhi.
Two students, Patel Lairenjam (Class 6th) of Little Flower School and Saikhom Amarjit Singh (Class 8th) of Tiny Tots' Unique School got state rank one in International Mathematics Olympiad and National Science Olympiad respectively, while Asish Naorem, a class XII student of Comet School secured state rank 2 in International English Olympiad.
In the International English Olympiad, Geetapriya Khwairakpam (class VIII) of Frobel English School and Ningthoujam Rakesh Singh (Class XII) garnered state rank 3, while Class I student Laishram Yangba of Antartic English School and class XI student Ahanthem Vivek Singh of Herbert School got state rank 3 in International Mathematics Olympiad.
The function held at Chinmaya Mission Auditorium in Delhi was graced by Supreme Court Judge Dipak Misra as Chief Guest and Chairman NIT Manipur Prof.YS Rajan as guest of honour.
Richard Everett, Director Education, British Council India and Mrs.Suprama Misra also attended the programme.
During the function, Founder & Executive Director of SOF Mahabir Singh said that over 27000 schools from 1360 cities across India and 16 countries participated in the Olympiad exams during 2013-14 and millions of students appeared in the Olympiads.
47 International Rank One holders were awarded Rs 50,000, a gold medal, certificate and gifts worth Rs 1000/ each, while another 47 International Rank Two holders won Rs 25000/ a silver medal, certificate and gifts worth Rs 1000/ each.
International Rank Three holders numbering 47 won Rs 10000/-, a bronze medal, certificate and gifts worth Rs 1000/ each, while the top 10 principals and top 40 teachers, whose students put up an excellent performance at international level, were also felicitated with cash awards, mementos & citations.
About 24000 students from 3350 schools have been awarded for achieving top state level ranks.
Nearly 4,60,000 students have been awarded "Medals of Excellence", for achieving top ranks in their respective schools.
