Month long birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot begins with Farmers' Demand Day

The month long celebration of 123rd birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot kicked off at Rupmahal Theatre, Imphal today.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Manipur State Council (MSC) CPI secretary L Sotinkumar said that the month long Hijam Irabot birth anniversary was kicked off observing "Farmers' Demand Day" under the aegis of CPI's mass front - Manipur Loumi Lup.
'Numbers of demand for welfare of farmers mark the inaugural event' .
The demands include subsidy, pension and waiver of paddy shares (Loushal) from drought affected farmers for this season, Sotinkumar said.
September 11 will be commemorated observing the day Jananeta Irabot reached Burma (Myanmar) after he went underground in 1950, he said.

Birth anniversary of Biplabi Thokchom, a close associate of Irabot, will be observed on September 15 .
Biplabi had helped Irabot execute his various plans, Sotinkumar added.
Manipur State Council CPI will also commemorate the movement against formation of Purbanchal Pradesh on September 21 .
Irabot's death anniversary will be observed on September 26 while his 123rd birth anniversary will be observed on September 30 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, he informed.
"The month long observance of the birth anniversary will reiterate and reaffirm the people's stand for State's integrity against the Framework Agreement.
The observance will also raise voice against privatisation of Air India and amalgamation of banks.
The observance is a campaign, in line with the vision Irabot had for his people, to address the various issues that are affecting common men, workers and general public " he said.
Manipur Loumi Lup advisor AC Sharma, former State secretary MSC CPI Langol Iboyaima and various party workers and leaders attended the event.
