CM launches Poshan Maah

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that all the officials must serve the people with sincerity, dedication and honesty and also think for the common good rather than for personal benefits.
This was stated by him at the launching of POSHAN Maah (National Nutritional Month), 2019, at Tribal Research Institute today.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Chief Minister stated that various schemes and measures have been taken up by the State Government to eradicate poverty in the State and the Government has introduced many welfare schemes as well.
He stated that it should be constantly monitored as to whether the people are getting the benefits of the welfare schemes at the grassroots level, and urged the people of the State to take the benefits of the schemes initiated by the Government so far.
Biren said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a legendary Prime Minister and he has introduced many welfare schemes with a human touch and no other leader or Prime Minister, has done so much as he has, for the country.
Under his leadership, a revolution has been brought in every sector in this country, he added, stating that all should follow his footsteps to bring positive change in the State.
Explaining the current scarcity of rainfall in the State, the Chief Minister said that the State Cabinet, after consultations with MLAs and officials of various Departments, has declared the State as a drought affected State.
All preventive and precautionary measures have been taken up to cope with the situation, he added, maintaining that the Government is planning to provide alternative crops to the farmers of the State.
Stating that the Government is focusing towards improving Government schools and that the School Fagathansi Mission was introduced to provide quality education to the children, he stated that this year, Government schools have recorded the highest pass percentage (above 74 percent) in HSLC exam.
Such result shows the commitment of the Government in improving the education sector of the State, he added.
The Chief Minister announced that a District level monitoring committee and block level monitoring committee would be formed so as to keep vigil on the activities of the Anganwadi Centres across the State.
DCs, DSOs, officials of Health Department Concerned will constitute the Committee, he added.
During the function, Chief Minister N Biren handed over the appointment letter to Khangembam Bijaya, sister of late Khangembam Santosh of Thoubal Athokpam.
Khangembam Bijaya was appointed as a graduate teacher at Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel.
Minister for Agriculture V Hangkhanlian, Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board S Rajen, Secretary to Chief Minister N Geoffrey, Director Social Welfare Ng Uttam, officials of Social Welfare Department, Anganwadi and ASHA workers attended the function.
