Imphal, September 01 2019:
With the adjournment of both the Parliamentary session as well as the State Assembly session, the power struggle within the BJP-led coalition Government has resurfaced.
Rebel MLAs who have been demanding replacement of Chief Minister N Biren have started another trip to Delhi.
The rebel MLAs have been charging that Chief Minister N Biren has been doing nothing for the growth of BJP or people's welfare.
Except for five/six MLAs who are loyal to N Biren, most other BJP MLAs have set off on another trip to Delhi.
Sources informed that Ministers belonging to other political parties which are partners of the coalition Government have endorsed the campaign for change of political leadership.
MLAs and Ministers belonging to political parties which are partners of the coalition Government would be leaving for Delhi by September 3.The sources informed that a prominent BJP MLA is likely to fly to Delhi within the next couple of days.
Notably, BJP Parliamentary Board of which the party's National president is a key member assigned the task of resolving the State's protracted power struggle to Rajya Sabha MP and BJP National General Secretary Bhupender Yadav.
Bhupender Yadav had already elicited opinions of BJP State unit president and Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda, former president Dr Haobam Borbabu, former Union Minister Th Chaoba and Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan.
Opinions of Ministers and ruling MLAs have also been already elicited, said the sources.
Earlier, BJP National leaders assured the rebel MLAs that the question of leadership change would be discussed after the Parliament session.
Even as the rebel MLAs maintained that they would not attend the State Assembly session which concluded on August 27, they were somehow persuaded by BJP Central leaders to attend the session with an assurance that their demand would be examined after the State Assembly session.
With both the Parliament session and Assembly session now over, the rebel MLAs have once again rushed to Delhi to urge BJP Central leaders to translate their assurances into action.
On the other hand, another source informed that many Congress MLAs including the former chief whip who had given up different key posts they held in MPCC have been working hard to form a political alliance together with fellow Congress MLAs who are currently supporting the BJP-led coalition Government.
8 Congress MLAs are supporting the BJP Govt.
