CCpur, September 01 2019:
The death of a man under mysterious circumstances inside a cow-shed at Singngat sub-divisional headquarters has reportedly irked local residents leading the public to storm the police station.
Sources said the lifeless body M Ginzalam alias Ginlam husband of Ngainuam was found on a cow shed, hanging on a rope and kneeling on the knees.
Local residents believe he was murdered or took his own life due to the constant harassment of the local police.
They have alleged that the police had taken him to the PS and tortured him accusing him of peddling drugs prior to the fateful incident.

Photos and video clips circulated on social media show womenfolk storming the police station, slapping and parading men in civies, believed to be the personnel posted at the subdivisional headquarters.
Paper clip showing the purported confession of at least four police personnel owning up responsibility for the death of Ginlam have also been widely circulated in social media but the veracity of both the confession and the video clips cannot be independently verified at the moment.
A team of the district police officials headed by the SP along with leaders of UZO and other CSOs have rushed to the spot in an attempt to douse the tense atmosphere and seek a solution.
Though the terms are not known at the time of filing this report, local sources said they have charted a path for settlement.
Meanwhile the Singngat Youth Club has condemned the actions of Singngat PS personnel and urged the authority concerned and public to strife forward in building a peaceful society.
SP Amrita Sinha said the body which was removed from the cow-shed by officials from the district headquarters will be taken to Imphal for an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death.
A special police unit has also been set up to probe the case including all the allegations made, and accordingly actions will be taken, she said.
