A meeting of the retired veteran ex-servicemen was held today at Koirengei Old Air Field under the aegis of the 57 Mountain Division, Leimakhong.
Major General DS Hooda, Deputy GOC, Brigadier AS Grewal and chairman of the Rajya Sainik Board, retired Lieutenant Colonel HS Singh took part as dignitaries of the rally.
Welcoming the veteran ex-servicemen, DS Hooda informed the gathering about the rally and said that it aimed at knowing the problems facing by the retired Army men of the state so that his division can relay to the higher authority for addressing.
The country knew the sacrifices made by the retired veteran ex-servicemen and trying its best to avail maximum benefits of the welfare programme for them, he said.
He said, he heard of retired men facing problems in withdrawing their pension amounts and trying to address it as far as possible.
Not only this, he added, Army authority is planning to establish a policlinic for them.
State government has also assured of allotting a land for the same.
The construction works will begin soon.
In the rally widows of retired ex-servicemen were also presented gifts by the GOC.
Cultural programmes, songs and drama performed by the artistes of the Song and Drama Division entertained the ex-servicemen at the concluding part of the programme.
A wheelchain was also presented to ex-Rfn Thangkhokam Kuki of 2nd Assam Regiment.
