Grandest ever Sangai festival planned

This year's edition of the Manipur Sangai Festival of Manipur or tourism festival will be a bulky event given that as many as 531 different stalls, including 100 food kiosks are to open to the visitors.
All weavers, artisans, entrepreneurs, NGOs, farms, including departments from both Central and state Governments can take part in the festival from November 21-30 at Hapta Kangjeibung Palace Compound here, informed a statement issued by Commerce and Industries Department on Monday.
It said Rs 8, 000 will be charged per stand, Rs 15, 000 for premier stall and also Rs 15, 000 per food stall which includes kitchen.
Chief Ministers of Saigang Region and Mandalay Region of Myanmar have already confirmed for their participation in the fete and steps are being taken up by the Government for connecting Myanmar and Manipur by air for the first time from November 21, the day the event begins.
Manipur Sangai Festival is celebrated every year under the management of the state Tourism Department.
The Festival strives to showcase and promote the best of what the state has to offer to the world in terms of art and culture, handloom, handicrafts & fine arts, indigenous sports, cuisines & music, eco & adventure sports as well as the scenic natural beauty of the land.
