Action plan to prevent blasts worked out

Along with convening a security review meeting, the State Government has worked out an action plan of the police to prevent further bomb blasts.
According to a reliable source, the security review meeting which was held in the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister's bungalow with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in the chair discussed various issues related to the recent series of bomb blasts in Imphal area.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in charge of Home; Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga; Principal Secretary (Home) Dr J Suresh Babu; DGP MK Das; ADGP (Law and Order) LM Khoute; IG (Law & Order) Range-I L Kailun; DIG Range-I Clay Khongsai; SP of Imphal West K Jayanta, SP (Intelligence) P Achin were among the top police and civil officials who were present during the meeting.
Though the source declined to divulge information on the contents of the action plan of the police to prevent bomb blasts, it, nonetheless, hinted at ensuring functioning of the CCTV cameras installed at different parts of the capital city, creation of a post of SP who would be responsible for the security in the urban areas of Imphal East and West only and deployment of two more SPs for rural areas of Imphal East and West respectively.
On the other hand, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has sought the cooperation from major civil society organisations in the state Government's effort to maintain law and order.
Representatives of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), United Committee Manipur (UCM), IPSA and NIPCO met Ibobi at the Chief Minister's Bungalow here to discuss the current state of affairs in the state, according to a source.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister is understood to have appealed to the leaders of the social organisations to do their part in tackling the law and order situation in the state.
The development has come after a series of bomb blasts hit the state that had killed several civilians, mainly in Imphal city during the festival season of October this year.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also sought suggestion from the representatives of the civil society organisations on the ban imposed on distribution and sale of alcoholic beverages in the state in order that the Government can lift the dry state status.
However, the leaders made no comment on it, the source said.
Instead, they urged the Chief Minister to facilitate implementation of Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act, 1960 (MLR & LR Act) in the hill, it said.
In his response, Chief Minister O Ibobi told the leaders of the civil bodies to wait for some more time because towards that end, the state Government needs to take important decision, the source added.
