Owing to the road-block stir, vehicular movement along the road was severely affected.
Vehicles coming along the road were compelled to divert to other road ways.
Even though Singjamei police tried to stop the protesters from blocking the road, their attempt proved futile instead they helped vehicles coming along the way in diverting to other ways.
Speaking to newspersons on sidelines of the protest, a woman protester narrated that an elderly person of the locality identified as Huidrom Shanti was thrashed by a youth namely Laishram Laba when the former asked a group of people who were playing Lagao game in the locality on October 25 around 8.30 pm to stop it as the time was late.
For his highhandedness, Laba was beaten up by locals who were present at that time.
After a while, Laba along his cousins Laishram Haridas and Laishram Gope came in the area and started firing rounds of bullet indiscriminately leaving Huidrom Kanta (25) and his brother-in-law Huidrom Huidrom Tilokchand badly wounded, she said.
Stating that a complaint was filed to Singjamei Police Station in connection with the incident but no arrest of the duo has been made so far, she appealed to the authorities concerned to seize licensed guns issued to the duo at the earliest.
