Security tightened

State Police Department has taken up special security measures ahead of the one-day visit of the DoNER Minister and the three-day visit of the Home Affairs team comprising 31 MPs of the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
Union DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh will visit Manipur on May 28, while the Home Affairs team led by veteran Rajya Sabha MP P Bhattacharya will visit the state on May 27 .
Again, another visit of a Central team of the Chemicals and Fertilisers is on the cards.
For the Union Minister's visit, the department has planned to tighten security in areas such as the entire Tiddim Road stretch from Imphal Airport and Secretariat area where the review m eeting will be held.
Similarly, for the Home Affairs team, the main areas to be focused are Tiddim Road and the Imphal Moreh Road as the team will visit Moreh.
For the Chemicals and Fertilisers team, Tiddim Road and Secretariat area will be focused.
A number of MR and IRB teams will take up the task to provide security to these VIP teams.
The process of allocating escort teams for the three visits have almost been completed, said a reliable source.
A preparatory meeting was held on May 16 for these high profile visits.
The meeting discussed minutely on various agendas such as the food and lodging arrangements of the VIPs, the vehicles to be allotted to them and also on the power-point presentations to be presented before them.
