Liquor worth over Rs 3 lac seized

Imphal, May 22 2017:
A combined team of Imphal West district police and Narcotic Cell seized a huge quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth around Rs 3,30,000 from a loaded truck nearGP Women's College this morning.
Reports said acting on reliable information about the transportation of a huge quantity of IMFL by a truck loaded with biscuit and snacks, a combined team of police led by OC Narcotic Cell, K Ranjit under the supervision of Additional SP (Law & Order) Imphal West, L Priyadarshini intercepted the truck near the entrance of GP Women's College.
When the truck bearing registration number AS 01 C-8116 was checked, the team found a huge quantity of rum and beer amongst the packets of biscuit and snacks.
They found 185 cases of rum and beer bottles worth around Rs 3,30,000 .
The truck driver has been identified as Md Ayub Ali (28) s/o Md Islamuddin of Sora Mamang Leikai while its handyman has been identified as Md Anish & Ibungo (19) s/o Md Najir Khan of Sora Mayai Leikai.
The truck owner has been identified as Md Ajim of Sora Mamang Leikai.
Md Ayub Ali revealed that the seized liquor was loaded from Zero Mile, Guwahati and was supposed to be handed over to Irom Itobi s/o (L) Modher of Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai.
Later, the seized liquor was set on fire at Excise Department complex in the presence of Excise officers and media persons.
