Route 39 a mafia club: PREPAK (Pro)

Imphal, August 18 2013: While claiming hands in the bomb blast that left three persons injured at Route 39 Restaurant located at Mantripukhri yesterday, the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) has branded the Route 39 Restaurant as a mafia club dealing in immoral businesses.

According to a statement issued by Senior Publicity Officer of PREPAK (Pro) Boby Mangang, the bomb was triggered by the Cobra Task Force 2 of the outfit after accumulating reports and deliberating on the social impact of such restaurant for six months.

Two hand grenades were placed at the restaurant earlier as a warning to stop all those immoral businesses.

The outfit alleged that the Route 39 Restaurant conducted weekly special parties where both men and women danced and sang in an indecent manner.

The customers were also provided with all kinds of drugs and alcoholic drinks at high prices.

The Restaurant charged entry fees differently for couples and singles.

Single men were reluctantly allowed entry to the restaurant, though single women were allowed even without the entry fee.

Small rooms (cabins) are also maintained inside the restaurants for customers to carry out immoral activities.

Many more heinous activities are going on at the Route 39.It is not just a night club, but a mafia club, it said.

The outfit further maintained that the PREPAK (Pro) has been supportive to the people who are being self-employed through proper means, but it cannot tolerate any business that would ruin the sanctity of the society.

The owners of such restaurants should rather get licenses and opened up their mafia clubs in cities like Mumbai, Bangkok, Las Vegas, etc.

and not in Manipur.

The Route 39 Restaurant is just a tip of the iceberg of businesses run by kins of politicians in power and others who have accumulated enormous wealth through drug trafficking and misappropriation of people's development money.

The state security forces and social organizations should also render cooperation to end such immoral business in Manipur, the outfit asserted.
