Covid claims AIR officer Bijaya Yumlembam

Imphal, May 12 2021:
All India Radio, Imphal Programme Executive, Bijaya Yumlembam has died of COVID-19 at Shija Hospital today.
She was admitted at Shija Hospital on April 23 after testing positive for Covid.
As her condition worsened, she was treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital for the last few days.
She passed away today afternoon.
She was 57 .
Her lifeless body has been cremated at her native place at Uripok Bachaspati Leikai following SOP.
Bijaya Yumlembam joined the AIR as Transmission Executive in 1989 .
Meanwhile, renowned theatre personality Ratan Thiyam has tested positive for COVID-19 .
Many have condoled the demise of Bijaya with the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) recalling that she was an active member of MMTA and had taken various expeditions including Everest Base Camp (EBC) trekking to Mt Kalapathar, Mt Bhagirathi II expedition, pre Everest Expedition of 1st NE Team 'Top of the World Mt Everest Expedition' .
She was also a member of disciplinary committee of MMTA, said a statement issued by MMTA.
Members of MMTA paid tributes to the departed soul and the flag of MMTA was flown at half mast as a mark of honour.
Jagoi Marup also condoled Yumlembam Bijaya and said she was a valued member of the Jagoi Marup and her demise has left a void in the organisation.
MMTA and Jagoi Marup prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and also shared the grief of the bereaved family.
