LS polls: Central Paramilitary Forces to arrive in State from March 20

Arrival of the Central Paramilitary forces for deployment in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in the State is likely to begin from March 20 onwards, official sources informed on Monday.
Manipur will go to polls for the two seats in the Outer and Inner Parliamentary Constituencies in two phases.
The election will be held in Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on April 9 while the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on April 17 .
With the polling in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency due to take place in one month's time, hectic preparations are underway, said sources in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) .
Paramilitary forces from outside will start arriving in the State from March 20 onwards for deployment in the first phase of the general elections, the sources said, adding preparations are already underway for deployment of the security forces at polling stations in the remote areas of the hill.
Official deployment charts will be arranged for sending security forces to the polling stations where they will be deployed once the companies of the Paramilitary Forces start arriving in the State, the sources said.
The security forces to be used during polling in the Outer Parliamentary Constituency will be redeployed in the second phase of the election in the Inner Parliamentary Constituency, they further said.
Steps have also been taken to deploy only Paramilitary Forces in most of the polling stations in the hill districts.
So far, nearly 200 polling stations in both the Inner and outer Parliamentary Constituencies have been confirmed as hyper-sensitive polling stations.
Additional security forces are likely to deploy in these polling stations to ward off any untoward incident during voting.
It is also likely that about 150 polling stations in both the constituencies will be webcast during polling, the official sources further informed.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India has released the factsheet for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies.
According to the factsheet, 2662 polling stations will be opened in the State with an approximate 2057 voters in each polling station.
As on January 15 this year, the total number of voters in the State is 17,39,005, out of which 18.86 percent of the total voters is in the age group of 18 to 25 years.
There are 8,94,828 voters in Outer Manipur while 8,44,177 voters in Inner Manipur Constituency.
