Economic blockade disturbs movement of vehicles; RNYOM appreciates

Endorsing the 48 general strike called by Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation (RNYOM) along National Highway 37 (Jiri to Imphal road) and economic blockade imposed by Land and Properties Owners Association (LPAO), bandh supporter at Oinamlong checked vehicles plying along the highway while the goods laden vehicles were detained.
The volunteers detained numerous vehicles coming both from Imphal and Jiribam and offloaded their goods while checking.
The undertaking has caused severe disturbance in normal functioning of passenger vehicles and others as not a single vehicles were spared.
The economic blockade was imposed by LPOA on NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam) against the failure of the State Government to pay compensation for land and properties affected by construction/repairing of road from Tupul to Phaitol.
Meanwhile, The Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) has thanked all the leaders, individuals and the general public who supported the "Rally for River" movement by snowing solidarity during 48 hours general strike called by RNYOM from February 4 to 6 .
The organisation has withdrawn the boycott on the National projects after an assurance was given from the concerned authorities and the Coastal Project Ltd in particular to initiate a meeting with the NF Railway in the presence of District Magistrate to find a solution to the long standing issue, said a press release issued by RNYOM president, Nicholas Gonmei.
The statement then cautioned all the concerned individuals, suppliers, agencies and construction companies to be mindful of their activities while exploiting natural resources and avoid any action that could have negative impact on the environment.
