Imphal, February 06 2019:
With regard to the relaxation of upper age limit from 40 years to 42 years for candidates appearing in the civil services conducted by Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC), the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has asked the State Government to further increase the upper age limit of candidates.
According to the apex tribal student body, there are significant grounds for further age relaxation "because the MPSC does not conduct Manipur Civil Service Combined Competitive Examination every year unlike the UPSC".
The ATSUM added that the MCSCCE will be held after a gap of 3 or 4 years, "and therefore, the age of 'old timers' will cross the limit by a few months unless one time age relaxation is given in the upcoming MCSCCE 2019".With regard to the "MPSC advertisement No 02/2019 Dated 22-1-2019" for direct recruitment of engineers in Engineering Department, the Government of Manipur and Manipur State Power Company Limited, the ATSUM appealed the MPSC to rectify the cut off marks of 40% to a lesser percentage for ST candidates in general English and General Studies.
