Imphal, July 03 2012:
Referring to the controversy surrounding the MBBS/BDS entrance test result, Chief Minister O Ibobi has categorically stated that there was no room for mark manipulation.
Replying to a call attention motion raised by MLAs L Ibomcha and Dr I Ibohalbi, Ibobi stated that the first merit list was published on June 11, a day after the entrance test was held.
In the meantime, two complaints were received regarding the Physics question paper.
After examining the complaints, the concerned moderators and the M/S Axon Automotion Private Limited admitted that the two particular questions were indeed wrong.
Subsequently, after due rectifications, the third merit list was published on June 22 .
That is not the final list.
The final list would be published with due approval of the Government only after allocation of seats to RIMS, JNIMS and other medical institutions based outside the State.
If any person wishes to go to Court because the merit list was modified and published again, let him go to Court.
The Government would definitely submit its clarification before the Court, said the CM.
Earlier, raising the call attention motion, MLA Ibomcha flayed the act of publishing merit list for two/three times after repeated modifications.
Asserting that the goof-up was glaring manifestation of sheer negligence on the part of the concerned officials, Ibomcha question as to why the result was declared before the date specified for re-checking.
Responsibility should be fixed on the guilty officials after conducting a thorough enquiry, he asserted.
Dr Ibohalbi also questioned how could Axon Pvt Ltd put up the results on the web without permission of the selection committee.
For some candidates, their marks fluctuated every time the result was declared.
Together with blacklisting Axon Private Limited, the moderators as well as members of the selection committee should be put under suspension.
As the authority has already admitted that there were certain errors, the selection committee should be held accountable, Dr Ibohalbi demanded.
Though the call attention motion was targeted at Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Chief Minister O Ibobi responded on behalf of Phungzathang as the latter was not present, being on leave.
