JAC seeks Govt's attention over anti-social activities in Heirok

Condemning the incident in which some miscreants fired shots at one Laisham Roj it and Thokchom Pramod during an argument, the JAC concerned has demanded the State Government to book the culprits within 24 hours and give befitting punishment to them.
The convenor of the JAC (Heirok) Maibam Tomthin Meitei, while speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, alleged that some unidentified miscreants are getting involved in gundaism, threat and antisocial activities at Heirok recently.
As such, he appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
He further condemned that even though the locals disclosed the names of the culprits to the police, no actions have been taken up till now.
He conveyed that according to the two individuals (Rojit and Pramod), seven to eight unidentified individuals holding sticks charged at them at Heirok pt-II Devi Mandop apart from firing shots at them at around 9.30 pm yesterday.
The faces of two individuals were seen amongst the unidentified group during the scuffle and the whole incident was recorded in a CCTV camera as well, the convenor claimed.
Among these evidences, two live bullets and empty bullet castings were recovered from the spot, he further added.
Lamenting the delay in filing a complaint of the JAC, he further alleged that the case has been intentionally delayed even after the submission of the evidences.
Saying that the people of Heirok want to live peacefully without any fear, he expressed hope that the State Government and the authority concerned will take up necessary measures to prevent such antisocial incidents in the area.
Urging the State Government to book the miscreants within 24 hours, he warned that the locals will be compelled to take up intense agitation if the authorities concerned fail to do the needful.
