Make proper use of Act East policy: Jarnail Singh

UGC-SAP DRS II, Department of Economics, MU, Trade Commerce and Industries, Manipur, Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) organised a seminar cum workshop on issues of institutional and physical infrastructure at Moreh LCS and way ahead for India's Act East Policy for North East India, at MU Court Hall today.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Administrator Jarnail Singh said that it is important for the State Government and the businessmen and stakeholders to make proper use of the Act East policy.
He mentioned that during his stint as the Chief Secretary of the State from 2004 to 2008, he brought up many issues, including Integrated Check Post at Moreh and the business issues present in the State to the Central Government and as a result, the Central Government sent many representatives to discuss about the various possibilities for increasing the business scope in the State.
On the other hand, Central Government Commerce Secretary, Anup Wadhawan said that the North East region has immense potential for development under the Act Eat policy due to the abundant resources.
GC-SAP DRS II Professor Ch Priyoranjan, Foreign Trade Kolkata Additional Director Anindita Sengupta, ICC North East Chairman MK Saharia and various other officials were also present at the event.
