Retd Justice T Nandakr Singh sworn in as Manipur's 1st Lokayukta Chairperson

Retired Justice T Nandakumar Singh was sworn-in as the first Chairperson of the Manipur Lokayukta along with Retd Justice Basu Deo Agarwal and Ameising Luikham, IAS (Retd) as Judicial Member and Non Judicial Member respectively today.
Governor Dr Najma Heptulla administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Chairperson and members at the swearing-in-ceremony which was held at the Darbar hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal.
The ceremony was attended by Council of Ministers led by Th Biswajit Singh, L Jayantakumar Singh, Karam Shyam, Th Shyamkumar Singh, V Hangkhanlian and MLA Khasim Vashum.
Chief Information Commissioner Dr Soibam Ibocha Singh, State Information Commissioner Oinam Sunil, Acting Chairperson, Manipur State Human Rights Commission, Khaidem Mani, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, Director General of Police LM Khaute and other senior officials of the State Government were also present during the ceremony.
Speaking to media persons after the swearing-in ceremony, the newly appointed Chairperson retd Justice T Nandakumar Singh said that Lokayukta will take up complaints filed against Ministers and senior IAS officers.
Every complaint will not be entertained and only those genuine complaints will be taken into consideration after preliminary enquiry.
Lokayukta is a quasi judiciary authority for transparent administration of the State Government.
Lokayukta is for the people and it will work in the interest of the public, he added.
