Imphal, June 19 2019:
MPCC president and CWC Member Gaikhangam has categorically stated that neither the media nor the public have any fault in the political crisis and the financial crisis which have been besieging the BJP-led coalition Government.
It was the Government which brought to public notice both the political crisis and the financial crisis, Gaikhangam asserted.
Speaking to media persons today, the ex-Deputy Chief Minister said that Congress has nothing to say in BJP's internal matters but no such internal matters should be allowed to hijack the State's collective interests.
It would not be right to let the people suffer on account of differences or power struggle among politicians, he said.
There were cases of the State Government running into overdrafts in the past but this is one of the rarest of rare moments when the RBI issued a circular whereby all financial transactions of the State Government have been stalled, Gaikhangam said.
The financial crisis besieging the State is very critical and at times of such critical crises, all the people as well as political parties (both ruling and Opposition) suffer equally.
As a responsible Opposition party, it would not be right for Congress to remain silent when the people are suffering extreme misery.
Whatever comments given by Congress on the political crisis and the financial crisis were in the interests of the State.
These should not be construed as criticisms of an enemy, Gaikhangam said.
All the issues plaguing the BJP-led coalition Government were exposed by the Government itself, not media, and there is no reason for the ruling parties to be furious against media and public, he asserted.
Appealing to all concerned to resolve the crises at the earliest, Gaikhangam pointed out that people suffer when there is any stand off among politicians of the same party.
