CCpur, November 02 2020:
At least fifteen cadres of the ZRA based at the outfit's Muvanlai camp, in Singngat sub-division have reaped a bumper harvest as the cadets seek ways to make the most out of their camp stay and await their impending political solution.
A source from the camp told The Sangai Express that the cadres at camp Muvanlai have set their hand on diverse professions as the stipend paid by the Government is minimal and inadequate to meet the needs of their families.
Some have taken up jhum farming while others rear pigs within their camps.
This year the harvest was bountiful for the jhum cultivators as 15 members reap over a thousand tins (mustard oil container).
On Sunday (yesterday), the cadres offered a tithe to the Church set up within the camp and everyone is happy to see the harvest, he added.
The fifteen cadres who have taken up jhum farming within the vicinity of the camp were joined by their families this year due to the pandemic and this has substantially raised the harvest.
The ones who have reaped the maximum harvested over 130 tins while the minimum was 40 tins, the source continued.
Claiming that such a scene will be a rare feat in any designated camps of armed outfits, the source further revealed that trees they planted at the camp have also started bearing fruits.
'I don't know how long the talks will continue to arrive at an acceptable solution, but the parkia (Yongchak), oranges and bananas that we now harvest are a constant reminder for us and a testimony for all that the talks are dragging for years now,' said the source who refused to make his identity public.
It may be recalled here that ZRA's camp Muvanlai was in the news across the Nation 10 years back as the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram along with the Chief Minister O Ibobi visited the camp in December 2010 .
The Union Minister met leaders of the outfit and interacted with them for a good 15 minutes after landing in a chopper at Singngat sub-divisional Headquarters.
