The Central team led by Centre's COVID-19 Nodal Officer and Ministry of Power Joint Secretary VK Dewangan has placed an 11-point recommendation to the State Government including multi-disciplinary approach to combat COVID-19 pandemic in the State.
The Central team arrived here on October 28 and made a detailed assessment of the COVID-19 situation in the State till today.
Although the Central team recommended opening an integrated COVID Control Centre under a strong leadership, they reserved their opinion on opening a dedicated COVID hospital.
One of their recommendations is proper media plan to increase awareness of the public, allay fears and provide correct information.
They also recommended analysis of available data for evidence based response.
Seamless tele-consultation for home isolation patients and ensuring adequate funding with a mechanism to monitor proper and timely disbursement of funds were two other recommendations.
The Central team recommended that all disciplines should be involved in tackling the pandemic.
It also recommended the State Government to look within the organisation first before asking for more manpower.
Enhancing capacity for such facilities as home isolation, COVID Care Centres, district hospitals and medical colleges, ensuring uninterrupted oxygen supply and better coordination are some other recommendations made by the Central team.
A report furnished by the team on October 30 said that there are 2213 beds in different COVID Care Centres of the State.
Out of them 764 were occupied while 1449 remained unoccupied.
It also said that these COVID Care Centres faced frequent power cut-offs, shortage of water supply, absence of proper space for disposal of solid wastes and frequent infection of health care workers by COVID-19.The team visited the COVID Care Centres of UNACCO, Lamboi Khongnangkhong, Bal Bhavan, Bishnupur and Churachandpur.
