Soso Shaiza stresses on need for women to be financially independent

The 26th foundation day of National Commission for Women was held at Stein Auditorium, India habitat Centre, Delhi.
Member of National Commission for Women Soso Shaiza, while speaking at the event, said that the National Commission for Women has a wide mandate covering almost all aspects of women's development apart from participation and direction on the planning process of socio economic development of women.
She informed that the Government of India has launched many schemes for women entrepreneurs including Bharatiya Manila Bank, Mudra Yojna Scheme for small ventures, Support to Training and Employment Programme for Women (STEP) scheme etc.
Soso Shaiza underlined the need for women to be financially independent as economically empowered women are strong and vocal who rise for their Rights, participates in the decision making of the family as well as in their enterprises.
Maintaining that women in the North East India possess talents in Handlooms, handicrafts, agriculture, floriculture etc, she conveyed that a favourable environment needs to be created to motivate, encourage and provide required facilities to them to be successful entrepreneurs.
