Thief arrested

Swift action by Imphal West commandos led to the arrest of a 19 year old thief along with the recovery of numerous stolen items from his possession today, just within 12 hours after the theft occurred.
According to a reliable source, a complaint was lodged before Lamphel PS by an individual from Tera Lukham Leirak claiming that a thief had entered her residence in the wee hours of the morning today, taking away her two wheeler, 4 mobile phones and Rs 20,000 in cash.
Based on the complaint, Imphal West district commandos under the command of L Amarjit, Additional SP (Operations) led by Inspector P Achouba, OC, Imphal West commandos, swung into action and launched a search operation.
During the search, a team of Imphal West commandos City Unit spotted an individual driving the stolen vehicle and as such, the driver was signalled to stop for checking.
However, the individual tried to flee from the spot and as such, the commando personnel gave chase and arrested him near Leima Shopping Plaza at around 4.30 pm, the source added.
The commandos recovered three of the stolen mobiles from different parts of Imphal (as he had sold them off to other individuals).
The thief, along with the recovered items, were handed over to Lamphel PS, for further necessary action, the source added.
