Route 39 Restaurant blasted, 3 hurt

Imphal, August 17 2013 :
A powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast inside the Route 39 Restaurant at Mantripukhri in the outskirts of Imphal wounding at least three persons, including a private security guard.
The incident occurred at around 6:45 pm today.
The ill-fated restaurant is owned by one Thounaojam Rishikanta of Nambol Utlou under Bishnupur district.
The blast that ripped through a large room at the top floor of the restaurant building also completely destroyed the furniture, ceiling, walls, staircase and other ornaments.
The injured have been identified as Md Sharif Khan (18), a security guard at the restaurant, hailing from Lilong Turel Ahanbi in Thoubal district; Bhopen (21), a waiter of the restaurant and a resident of Nambol in Bishnupur district and Md Sakir (17) of Lilong resident, a salesman at Yokohama Sound System and Luxury Car accessories shop located on the ground floor of the restaurant.

All three of them received minor injuries after broken glasses hit them in the blast.
According to Md Sharif, the injured security guard, the blast took place soon after a youth who came to the restaurant for having coffee left.
The suspected youth who appeared to be around 10 to 25 years of age with lean body came in a Motorcycle (Pusler).
He was clad in Jean pant and black T-shirt.
He came and sat on a table in the first floor of the restaurant and ordered for coffee.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.
A large number of police personnel led by DIG Range-I Clay Khongsai, Imphal East district Superintendent of Police Angam Kamei rushed to the site after the blast. The police took away the CCTV footage from the spot for investigation.
