Imphal, August 17 2011:
Most of the Imphal bound goods laden trucks including oil tankers which were escorted from Jiribam since August 14 started arriving at Imphal by late evening today.
By late evening yesterday, these trucks reached Awangkhul.
From there, all of them were escorted to Imphal today.
It is informed that around 120 goods laden trucks, which have come along with the rest from Jiribam, could not reach Awangkhul on account of deplorable road condition in Kambiron area.
Moreover, among the trucks escorted from Awangkhul today morning, two Tata trucks, one carrying 20 KL of diesel and the other carrying 12 KL, broke down and remained at Nungba, while another Tata truck carrying 20 Kl of diesel broke its spring and stayed back at Noney.
While escorting the goods laden trucks, Thoubal police commandos came under stone pelting attacks from supporters of Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee at Seijang near New Keithelmanbi and one vehicle (MN01W-1980) of the escort party suffered some damage.
